Greg has asked for the Secretary of State for Health to take local infection rates and community travel patterns into account, instead of county-wide administrative boundaries, when it comes to applying new tiered restrictions on 2 December, during a joint session of the Science and Technology Select Committee and the Health and Social Care Select Committee, today.
Greg's concerns are shared by a number of other Kent MPs including Damian Collins (Folkstone and Hythe), Tracey Crouch (Chatham and Aylesford), Roger Gale (North Thanet), Helen Grant (Maidstone and the Weald), Damian Green (Ashford) and Tom Tugendhat (Tonbridge and Malling) who have written a joint letter to The Secretary of State pushing for restrictions to be introduced "on a borough or district basis" and not on a county-wide basis.
The letter - attached - adds: "Kent is a vast and varied county which showcases the best of our country. We must allow businesses to prosper and not be held back by restrictions not suitable for their area."
