Greg has welcomed the combined efforts of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and the Environment Agency in setting up the Five Oak Green Flood Resilience Scheme.
Households in the village classified as very at risk of flooding have been informed that they are now eligible for up to £7,500 per property to be spent on flood mitigation.
The chosen contractor, Watertight International, has a track record of delivering on similar projects, including the 250 home Middle Medway Flood Resilience Scheme completed last year.
Property surveys will be undertaken this Autumn, with the estimated completion date for installation in the Winter. Following completion of the installation phase, the Environment Agency will arrange a mock flood exercise where residents will be able to practice the deployment of their bespoke measures.
Greg said: “The establishment of the Flood Resilience Scheme will be greatly welcomed by my constituents in Five Oak Green who have been impacted by several episodes of extreme rainfall. Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and the Environment Agency have done a great job in securing Government funding for this project and I will always offer my support to rolling out similar schemes across the constituency.”
