Greg Clark called a meeting with Network Rail, on behalf of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society, to discuss how the railway bridge parapet on Mount Pleasant Road in Tunbridge Wells could be improved.
Greg Clark commented:
"The railway bridge on Mount Pleasant Road is in a prime location – anyone visiting the town will walk past it on their way to the High Street and The Pantiles. Unfortunately it's beginning to look a bit grotty – some of its mouldings are missing, it's going rusty and paint is peeling off. It would be great if it could be restored so that it becomes a handsome architectural feature instead of an eyesore.
"I think this is an excellent initiative by the Borough Council and Civic Society so I'm delighted to be able to support it by inviting representatives from Network Rail to Tunbridge Wells to see the bridge for themselves and what impact it has on our town.
"The meeting went extremely well - Network Rail has promised to spruce it up next summer when the weather is better for painting which is great news."
