Greg met with members of the local branch of the National Farmers Union today at the headquarters of Cottage Farm Ltd in Horsmonden to discuss issues impacting the rural community and businesses.
Issues discussed included trade deals, the availability of labour, food security and government support.
Greg said: “I love representing a constituency in which the countryside is so important. Horticulture and farming are so important to our area, not just because of the contribution they make to our landscape but to jobs: 1,200 are employed in farming and growing year-round, and more still employed seasonally. Growers and farmers are facing some difficult challenges with labour in short supply and export markets disrupted, so it was good to meet local NFU members to hear from them directly so I can best represent them in Parliament.”
