Greg has welcomed the move by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to activate the scheme of immediate financial help available to victims of the recent floods.
Following his meetings with residents of Capel and Paddock Wood whose homes and businesses were inundated, Greg asked the Borough Council to activate the Government financial scheme. Today they agreed to do that, meaning that immediate cash payments of £500 are available for each household affected, £2,500 for businesses, 100% reduction in council tax and 100% business rates relief.
Houses and businesses are eligible for floods caused by Storm Brendan in December and Storms Ciara and Dennis in February. Applications can be made online at http://twbc.online/flood-recovery
Greg said: “Nothing can compensate for the devastating effect on residents and businesses of having their properties flooded, but I think it was important these immediate payments are available to residents and businesses.”
