The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Rebecca Pow, has pledged to "step in" and "take some serious action" over Southern Water's poor performance which has, "left a great deal to be desired."
Her commitment comes after Greg secured an adjournment debate in Parliament to highlight Southern Water's failure to properly maintain and invest in its waste water infrastructure within the constituency of Tunbridge Wells.
Focusing on Paddock Wood, but acknowledging the problem is widespread across the constituency, Greg said Southern Water had done next to nothing to upgrade its sewerage network, despite Paddock Wood being earmarked for an additional 1,000 houses and the company admitting as far back as 2015 that there is inadequate capacity for any future developments. This has resulted in residents of the town frequently experiencing waste water flowing onto the streets and sometimes onto their property.
In response, Rebecca Pow said she would meet with Southern Water before meeting with Greg and residents of Paddock Wood.
