Greg has welcomed the news that more than 500 homes in Rusthall will benefit from faster Broadband after a protracted campaign to upgrade one of the main cabinets in the village came to a close.
He had been supporting Kent Count Council’s efforts to persuade Openreach to upgrade the local broadband infrastructure for several years after residents contacted him highlight the situation.
They were originally told in 2012 that it was commercially viable to upgrade the cabinet in Denny Bottom but numerous setbacks and funding issues prevented work from being undertaken.
Work was finally completed last week.
Greg said: “Residents had bene waiting far too long for their broadband to be upgraded. Ensuring fast and reliable broadband is essential for many businesses and households.
“So while I welcome the news that the cabinet has finally been upgraded, I hope steps are being taken to ensure future upgrades do not take so long.”
