The bid to get High Brooms station nominated for Access for All funding - to install a ramp to the southbound platform- was submitted by Greg and Cllr Carol Mackonochie, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Wellbeing at Tunbridge Well Borough Council, today.
It comes after weeks of close working between Greg, the council and Network Rail to bolster the case for High Brooms to be selected for step free access to Platform 2.
Greg said: “access to High Brooms station has remained unchanged since it was first built in the Victorian era. I think it is of great importance that the station is selected for an upgrade in this latest round of Access for All funding.
“The current layout is completely unsuitable for anyone who struggles with steps, has a buggy, uses a bike or is in a wheelchair and with over 1 million passengers using it each year High Brooms should have the facilities its level of usage justifies.”
