Monday 24th July, saw the start of the 6-week road closure to the Pembury Road for essential gas works.
Greg visited the site to receive his weekly update from SGN, its contractors WCB and Kent Highways on Friday 4 August. He was pleased to learn that, as a result of having deployed two crews rather than one, the works are well ahead of schedule. As a result of this news, Greg is hopeful that they will be able to finish before the original deadline of when schools return after their summer break.
During the meeting Greg was informed that the SGN team had taken the opportunity to improve the valves in the gas main, meaning higher pressure gas supplies for residents.
Alongside this, Kent Highways have also used the opportunity of the road closure to make long-term improvements to the drains, making them more effective in the event of intense rainfall.
Greg hopes that the work will continue to progress ahead of schedule and he will continue to receive updates from SGN and Kent highways over the coming days.
