Greg praised for "phenomenal" flexible ticketing campaign

Thursday, 20 May, 2021

Following a considerable campaign to introduce flexible ticketing - which included securing an adjournment debate on the issue last September - Greg has welcomed the Secretary of State for Transport's announcement today that flexible tickets for use on the railways will be available to buy from 21 June and for use from 28 June.

Greg also urged the Secretary of State not take the long overdue reforms a step further and press ahead with rolling out contactless ticketing outside of London.

In response, Grant Shapps said the reforms in the White Paper - which will create Great British Railways - will allow for more contactless travel to be brought in by reducing the fragmentation of the rail network.

He also praised Greg for his "phenomenal" campaigning on the issue of flexible tickets on behalf of his constituents.
