Greg has called for High Brooms station to be made step-free, after the Government announced up to £300 million of funding for the 'Access to All' programme – which pays for access improvements at stations. Following successfully lobbying for improvements at Paddock Wood, in 2015 Greg opened the station's new lifts which were delivered under the scheme. With the announcement of additional funding, both rail operator Southeastern and Network Rail are consulting on which stations should benefit.
Greg said:
"For the last three years High Brooms has been the second busiest station in the constituency, and has seen passenger numbers increase by over 50% over the last decade – substantially more than any other nearby station. High Brooms is increasingly popular with commuters, and with the amount of development going on nearby the numbers using the station are only going to increase. It is also the nearest and by far the most convenient station for access to Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
"Therefore, I have written to Southeastern's Chief Executive, David Statham, urging him to make High Brooms a priority in their submission. I will also press the case for High Brooms with both Network Rail and the Department for Transport, and I would encourage constituents to have their say on this as well."
