The Friends of Woodbury Park Cemetery marked the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne with a special ceremony in Woodbury Park Cemetery on Sunday 6th February.
To the strains of a trumpet fanfare acclaiming Queen Elizabeth the Second, Greg unveiled a plaque beside a newly planted Dove tree, after speaking of the huge admiration and respect of all, none more so than the people of Royal Tunbridge Wells, for Her Majesty’s unwavering and faultless years of service devoted to the good of her country. He thought that Woodbury Park Cemetery must be among the first places in the country to honour her today in this way.
Selections from Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, played by Skinners School Brass Ensemble, had accompanied a procession of onlookers led by Chair of the Friends Margaret Ginman and Greg, together with Fr John Caster Vicar of St Barnabas Church, and Councillors Jane March, Dr Linda Hall and Justine Rutland down to the tree planting site in the lower cemetery.
