Today Greg met with the team from Kent Highways who are responsible for the roadworks along Pembury Road for a weekly update.
The works this week encountered some complex engineering challenges in the middle section of the area of Pembury Road where the gas main connects with nearby properties, these have, however, now been resolved. The teams also uncovered a leaking water pipe that required South East Water to attend the site to fix and that work has also now been completed.
Kent Highways have taken the opportunity while the road is closed to improve the drainage along the stretch of road– they have ‘flushed through’ the drains to ensure that they are clear and fully working. They have also cut back some of the vegetation that was blocking the permanent road signs.
All of these works have been managed well and the teams are in the final stages of repairs to the gas main. It is very likely that the works will finish ahead of schedule.
Thank you to WCB, SGN and Kent Highways for all their hard work.
